PANAJI: Revolutionary Goans leader from Canancona, Prashant Pagi condemns Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida statement terming Goan fishermen and traders as liars. RG demanded that the sitting MLA apologised to the fishermen for hurting them with his absurd remarks.
The government in the first place does not help the fishermen in the state with any schemes or subsidies but is indulging in name-calling. The MLA is calling these hardworking people liars who are struggling to make ends meet when the government itself is run by liars.
Pagi went on to highlighted that these fisherman are risking their lives by traveling into the deep sea to supply the people of Goa with fish. “The MLA has the audacity to call these people liars who are providing us with fish, which is our staple diet. The government is time and again only targeting farmers, fisherman and the common man,” he said.
“The fishermen have suffered huge lossed due to the pandemic. If the government cannot provide them assistance and relief than at least such remarks should be avoided. RG will always stand by these fishermen and show these MLA’s their rightful places in the forthcoming assembly,” added Pagi.
One can recall that recently, MLA Carlos Almeida bagged the limelight for this ‘nustekar fotting’ remark. Almeida says it’s time to go with the Iron hand on the fish market issue, suggests all fruit vendors across Vasco be shifted to the temporary shed built for them.
