Panaji: Reacting to the accusations of social activist Rama Kanakonkar after his discharge from hospital, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao on Saturday demanded that the inquiry and investigation of his assault case be handed over to the CBI immediately.
He further said that the Investigation should not only be fair but perceived to be fair and just. There is no other way for fair investigation except through CBI Or a judicial inquiry.
Alemao said that this government has provided safe shelter to goondaism and is found using goonda elements to silence critics and democratic protests.
“The needle of suspicion is on the Home Minister meaning the Chief Minister and another Cabinet Minister. The issue is too serious to be ignored by any government,” he said.
The LoP pointed out that the conventions of democracy, justice and good governance demand that both resign to restore faith in the system.
“We expect the Governor to intervene and act in this matter,’’ Yuri said further.
