Pernem Police have successfully cracked a blind robbery case, leading to the arrest of the accused following a meticulous investigation. The incident, which occurred on November 5, 2024, involved an unknown assailant who criminally trespassed into the home of Prathamesh Dwarka Prasad, assaulted his mother, Mrs. Prabhawati, and robbed her of a gold mangalsutra and a Nokia mobile phone worth approximately Rs. 80,000.
According to the complaint, the assailant attacked Mrs. Prabhawati, causing severe head and facial injuries with a koita, with the intent to kill. The victim is still undergoing treatment at GMC Bambolim and is unable to provide further details about the incident.
After gathering crucial inputs from secret informants and utilizing technical surveillance, Pernem Police identified and apprehended the accused, Rupesh Kambli, a 40-year-old resident of Sindhudurg, Maharashtra, on November 9, 2024. He was arrested at Naibag, Pernem, after his involvement in the crime was confirmed.
The breakthrough in the case was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the police team, led by PI Sachin B. Lokre, along with his staff. Further investigation is ongoing under the supervision of PSI Sahil S. Naik, PI Sachin B. Lokre, SDPO Ashish Shirodkar, and SP (North) Akshat Kaushal, IPS.
