Panaji Police Crack Down on Burglary Gang, Recover Stolen Property Worth Rs. 3 Lakhs

On 2nd July 2024, Mrs. Nishtha Tiwari of Miramar, Goa lodged a complaint reporting a burglary at her residence on 1st July 2023, between 13:30 and 14:25 hours. The incident took place at Casa Pires building, Miramar, where unknown male suspects broke into her flat by forcing open the main door latch. The burglars stole a dark blue backpack containing a Tissot men’s wristwatch valued at Rs. 35,000, silver items worth Rs. 5,000, a gold ‘Om’ pendant worth Rs. 30,000, and some old currency coins, amounting to approximately Rs. 75,000.

In a swift response, the Panaji Town Police Station employed meticulous planning and intelligence gathering. Utilizing technical surveillance and CCTV footage, they identified and apprehended the suspects within 24 hours. The accused were identified as Mr. Arman, aged 33, from Gokulpuri, North East Delhi, and Mr. Pawan, aged 22, from Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, residing in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.

During the investigation, both suspects confessed to the Panaji Police Station crime and additional thefts in the Verna jurisdiction. They were tracked to a hotel in Colva, where the police recovered all the stolen property from the Panaji case, valued at approximately Rs. 75,000, and additional stolen items worth around Rs. 3,00,000.

Mr. Arman is a wanted criminal in Delhi and other states, involved in over 25 house break-ins and burglaries across India. The investigation revealed that the suspects are part of an interstate gang known as the “Raziya Gang.”

The successful operation was led by PI Panaji Shri Vijaykumar Chodankar, PSI Amir Taral, PSI Dipesh Shetkar, HC-5151 Nitin Goankar, PC-5918 Erimiya Gurraya, PC-8645 Minesh Naik, PC Driver Vikas Naik, and PC Driver Pranay Naik of Panaji PS. The team operated under the overall supervision of Shri Sudesh R. Naik, SDPO Panaji, and Shri Akshat Kaushik, IPS, SP North.
