Panaji: Chaitanya Pratishthan, Goa, will once again organise its ‘One Rakhi for Soldiers’ initiative to express gratitude and solidarity with soldiers serving along the nation’s borders. The main programme will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 10 am at the Durbar Hall of Lok Bhavan in Dona Paula.
Goa Governor Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju will attend the event as the chief guest, while renowned actor Yogesh Soman will be the keynote speaker. Kerala and Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar is also expected to be present as a special guest.
As part of the annual initiative held around Raksha Bandhan, Chaitanya Pratishthan collects rakhis from people across Goa and sends them to soldiers deployed at the country’s borders. The programme aims to create an emotional bond between citizens, students and members of the armed forces while expressing appreciation for the sacrifices and service of the nation’s soldiers.
Rakhis are being collected from students of schools, higher secondary institutions and colleges across Goa. This year, the organisation has also appealed to members of the public to participate by contributing rakhis for soldiers.
The organisation said the initiative is aimed at strengthening patriotic sentiment among citizens and giving people an opportunity to personally express their respect and affection towards the armed forces.
Chaitanya Pratishthan is a registered charitable organisation involved in various initiatives for underprivileged and economically disadvantaged sections of society. According to the organisation, it also works towards promoting and preserving culture, education, heritage and social values through a range of social and cultural activities.
