One of the largest-ever single-day tenant verification drives was conducted over the weekend in North District. Each beat of the North District police was mobilized to carry out a surprise tenant verification operation across their respective areas.
During this drive, approximately 3,000 tenants were verified. The verification process involved:
- 1. Ensuring landlords had completed proper police verification.
- 2. Checking for any illegal activities being conducted on rented premises.
- 3. Randomly checking tenants’ antecedents to ensure no anti-social elements from other states were residing in Goa.
During the operation, about 100 individuals were found without proper tenant verification. Reports against these landlords have been sent to the Deputy Collectors for necessary legal action.
This drive is part of an ongoing effort by the North District Police Station staff, which has verified over 5,000 tenants in the past fortnight. Approximately 500 tenants were found residing without proper documentation, and legal action is being pursued.
