Major Drug Bust in Goa: Russian DJ Arrested with Rs. 16 Lakhs Worth of Date Rape Drug

In a significant breakthrough, the Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) of the Goa Police has arrested a female Russian DJ for possessing a commercial quantity of Gamma Hydroxy Butyrate (GHB), commonly known as the Date Rape Drug, with an estimated value of Rs. 16 lakhs. This is the first time the Goa Police have seized this potent narcotic, also referred to in party circuits as “Liquid Ecstasy” or “Liquid X.” In addition to GHB, the DJ was found with a small amount of ganja valued at Rs. 3,600.

Three weeks earlier, the ANC dismantled a major pan-India LSD drug network, arresting a Kerala youth with drugs worth over Rs. 1 crore. During the subsequent investigation, authorities were alerted to the emergence of GHB in the region’s party scene. Acting on gathered intelligence, the ANC activated their informants and conducted a thorough operation over the past three weeks to trace those involved.

The breakthrough came when officers raided the DJ’s rented premises in Keri, Pernem, seizing a commercial quantity of GHB and the ganja. The raid was executed by PSI Sunil Falkar, assisted by HC Eustaquio Fernandes and PCs Sachin Atoskar, Vishal Shitole, LPCs Deepa Bandekar, and Jyoti Naik, along with PC driver Kundan Patekar. The operation was led under the supervision of PI ANC Sajith Pillai and overseen by DySP ANC Gurudas Kadam and SP ANC Tikam Singh Verma, IPS.

GHB is a potent synthetic drug known for being used in spiked drinks, leaving victims in a semi-conscious state with little to no memory of events upon regaining consciousness. It is infamous as a date rape drug, alongside Ketamine and Rohypnol. The accused has been remanded to two days of police custody, and further investigation is being conducted by PI ANC Sajith Pillai.
