Panaji: Against the backdrop of rising environmental and land-related concerns in Goa, the “Enough is Enough” movement has announced a major public meeting to be held on May 30 at Azad Maidan, Panaji, coinciding with Goa Statehood Day. The gathering aims to discuss several pressing issues affecting the state and invite participation from people across political and social backgrounds.
Former Chief Justice Justice Ferdino Rebello, one of the leaders of the movement, addressed the media on Saturday and said the meeting would focus on protecting Goa’s identity, environment, culture, and natural resources. He stated that rapid development, hill cutting, land conversion, and destruction of ecological zones are posing a serious threat to Goa’s future.
The movement has also prepared a 10-point charter of demands and appealed to all political parties and citizens to support the initiative. Organisers said the campaign is not limited to any political ideology but is a people’s movement aimed at safeguarding Goa’s heritage and interests.
Members of the movement expressed hope that citizens, social organisations, and concerned groups from across Goa will participate in large numbers and raise a united voice for the state’s future.
