Panaji: INDIA bloc leaders in Goa have expressed confidence of winning both the seats and have vowed to continue the alliance to protect the state.
GPCC President Amit Patkar, along with alliance partners addressed a joint press conference on Wednesday and said that the alliance will continue.
South Goa Candidate Capt. Viriato Fernandes, AAP President Amit Palyekar, NCP (sharad Pawar) President Jose Philip, Goa Forward Party’s General Secretary Durgadas Kamat and others were present.
He thanked the people of Goa for giving huge support.
“People have vented their anger against the BJP and hence the percentage has increased. We can now tell with confidence that we are winning both seats,” Patkar said.
He said that the INDIA bloc will work together to protect the identity, heritage and culture of Goa.
AAP President Amit Palyekar said that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and his leaders had such a fear of INDIA alliance that he reached such pockets of South Goa constituency, where he had never visited.
“I am happy that people still trust democratic process and hence they turned in huge numbers for voting. I am thankful to the people of Goa for trying to protect Goa,” he said.
NCP (sharad Pawar) President Jose Philip said that people voted to vent anger against the BJP. “There was a reason why they voted against them. People are serious about the issues Goa is facing. Hence this election looked like an assembly election, where a huge voter’s turnout was recorded,” he said.
Durgadas Kamat said that voter’s turnout in the mining belt has increased, which shows that mining dependents have voted against BJP.
“I am confident that our candidates will win,” he said.
Capt. Viriato Fernandes said that he will be always thankful to the people for giving love during the campaign. “I am also thankful to the INDIA alliance, activists and others for supporting,” he said.
