goaplusnewsIn a significant move to bolster emergency medical services, Goa witnessed the launch and handover of several ambulances, including advanced life support (ALS), basic life support (BLS), cardiac ambulances, and hearse vans. This initiative, spearheaded by the Directorate of Health Services (DHS), aims to provide timely and accessible healthcare across the state.
During the ceremony, Dr. Shweta Kanekar, representing DHS, emphasized the importance of accessible emergency services. “Our responsibility goes beyond hospitals. Today, by providing these ambulances, we are empowering our community with critical resources that can save lives. We believe access to healthcare is a fundamental right, and this initiative ensures help is always within reach when it’s needed most,” she remarked.
The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including Shri Vishwajit Rane, Goa’s Hon’ble Minister for Health, who shared his vision for progressive health programs in the state. “These ambulances represent our commitment to delivering quality healthcare services. We are determined to enhance emergency response times and ensure that timely medical aid is available to every Goan in need,” he stated.
In collaboration with District Mineral Foundation (DMF) and Molbio Diagnostics, the event marked the distribution of 19 ambulances and hearse vans across North and South Goa. The fleet will operate under the GVK EMRI, renowned for its effective 108 emergency helpline and its transformative impact on Goa’s emergency medical services. Since its inception, GVK EMRI has significantly reduced response times, saving numerous lives in medical emergencies, road accidents, and other crises.
The contribution breakdown includes 10 BLS ambulances and 3 cardiac ambulances from DMF North Goa, 2 cardiac ambulances from DMF South Goa, and 4 ALS ambulances, along with 2 hearse vans and ophthalmic equipment, provided by Molbio Diagnostics for highway response services and healthcare infrastructure.
Dr. Shweta Kanekar concluded the event by expressing gratitude to the collaborators for their contributions, stating, “These ambulances are more than just vehicles—they are lifelines for families facing emergencies, a reflection of our collective commitment to care and community support.”
The event underscored the crucial role of dedicated highway ambulances in addressing road traffic accidents, highlighting that these ambulances will enhance road safety and ensure that victims receive immediate medical attention.
