Govt Wasting Assembly Time Instead of Addressing Issues: Vijai Sardesai

PANAJI: Goa Forward Party president Vijai Sardesai on Monday said that while the government deserves congratulations for convening the Assembly session early in January, serious questions arise over limiting it to just four days. He alleged that the BJP-led government never misses an opportunity to waste the time of the House, pointing out that discussions would be taken up on issues such as Vande Mataram instead of pressing public concerns.

Sardesai said that, as per the information available to him, the government plans to hold a full budget session in March and not a Vote on Account, which he termed as a usual practice of the present dispensation. He further claimed that only a two-day session would be held in September, after which the state would head into Assembly elections.

“This clearly shows that the government does not want scrutiny in the august House. The intention is to cover up irregularities and corruption and go to elections without exposing the truth,” Sardesai alleged.

He asserted that the Opposition would raise these issues at every possible forum and would corner the BJP-led government over alleged irregularities and corruption in the Assembly.
