goaplusnewsPanaji, 6th August 2025: Goa Forward Party President and MLA Vijai Sardesai today blew the lid off what he called “Goa’s Vyapam” a massive, organised education scam centred around institutions run by the Anjuman Islahul Muslimeen and Husn Sahara schools in Salcete, Tiswadi, and Ponda.
Sardesai exposed how fake certificates, fraudulent recruitment, and illegal school operations have infiltrated Goa’s education system, defrauding taxpayers and endangering the future of Goan students. “This is not just a scam, it is a criminal conspiracy, and a text book case,” said Sardesai, adding that “files have disappeared, unqualified individuals have been appointed, and salaries are being drawn from public funds.”
He revealed specific cases such as Nashila Qadri, appointed at AIM Higher Secondary School even before completing her degree. The Anti-Corruption Branch of Vigilance found she submitted three different certificates for the same qualification. “If a teacher can produce multiple degrees for the same course, is she a teacher or a fraudster?” Sardesai asked.
He highlighted a pattern of nepotism, with the school’s principal Olympia Gonsalves Mulla allegedly appointed illegally, and her husband Urfan Mulla holding a powerful position as Chairman of the Hajj Committee. Recruitment files are missing, and her appointment remains unverified. Several of Urfan Mulla’s brothers are also reportedly drawing salaries from the same school network.
Sardesai also exposed the operation of ghost schools like Husn Sahara English and Konkani Medium School in Gogol, registered at one location but functioning elsewhere, in violation of building and safety norms.
Degrees were allegedly obtained from questionable institutes outside Goa such as Swami Vivekanand University (MP), Jodhpur National University (Rajasthan), Vikrama Simhapuri University (AP), and Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (UP), all known for issuing degrees without attendance or coursework.
“This is a scam against the future of our children, and a fraud on the Goan taxpayer,” Sardesai said, demanding, a judicial inquiry headed by a retired High Court judge, suspension of unverified staff, FIRs under Sections 420, 468, and 120B, a public complaint portal, and strict recruitment reforms to protect students and taxpayers.
“Is this a school system or a family-run racket?” Sardesai asked, warning that silence from the government only proves political protection at the highest levels.
