Goan lad, IAS officer Swapnil Naik honoured with Gold Medal by Arunachal Pradesh

Panaji : Goa’s former tourism director and district collector Swapnil Naik bagged a Gold Medal for his meritorious services to Arunachal Pradesh.

The Goan lad, who was elevated to IAS cadre, was felicitated at the hands of AP Governor Lt General (Retd) K T Parnaik, on the occasion of the Statehood Day, held on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.

AP Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy CM Chowna Mein, Minister for Civil Aviation Nakap Nalo and Chief Secretary Dharmendra were present on the occasion.

After rising up to the position of IAS from Goa Civil Service cadre, Naik has been serving the north eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh for the last three years, as the Secretary of Civil Aviation, Textile and Handicrafts. He is also holding additional charge of Administrative Reforms Division, AP Public Service Bord, Science & Technology etc.

During his tenure in the North Eastern state, his major achievement was to make the first Hollongi Green Airport of the state operational.

Naik, holding degree of a civil engineer, joined civil services of Goa government and rose up to the post of Collector in Goa, when he was chosen in the IAS cadre. He has also played a major role as Director of Tourism, besides several other responsible positions in Goa.

His father Mahesh Mortu Naik, originally from Nagarcem, Canacona, had retired as the Secretary of Goa Legislative Assembly.

He is the alumni of People’s High School, Dhempe HSS, GEC Farmagudi and Goa Institute of Management.
