Panaji, Goa – Under Project “TRUST,” the Goa Traffic Police, in collaboration with the Directorate of Transport, inaugurated a Traffic Rules Understanding and Safety Training Centre for food and grocery delivery riders. The inauguration ceremony was held at the Industrial Training Institute in Althino, Panaji, and was graced by esteemed officials including IGP Goa Shri Omveer Singh Bishnoi IPS, Secretary of Transport Shri Subhash Chandra IAS, and SP Traffic Shri Rahul Gupta IPS.
In his address, IGP Bishnoi emphasized the vulnerability of two-wheelers to road accidents and urged delivery riders to prioritize their safety while on the road. Secretary Chandra highlighted the pressures faced by food and grocery delivery riders to meet speedy delivery timelines, often leading to over-speeding and increased accident risks. He advised the CEO of Zomato to consider the unique road conditions of Goa when estimating delivery times to mitigate these risks.
SP Traffic Rahul Gupta presented an overview of the successful initiatives undertaken by the Goa Traffic Police in coordination with the Directorate of Transport under Project TRUST. He outlined various awareness programs aimed at reducing accidents and sensitizing different sections of the community.
The event saw the participation of Shri Kartik Gharat, CEO of Zomato (Goa), who expressed his gratitude to the Goa Police for this vital initiative. The training session was attended by 50 participants from Zomato and Blinkit.
Similar training and sensitization sessions are scheduled to take place at ITI Margao, ITI Vasco, and the RTO Office in Ponda, aiming to cover all food and grocery delivery riders from Zomato, Blinkit, and Swiggy.
