Panaji- Goa Trinamool Congress Joint Convenor Mariano Rodrigues, Goa TMC Media Coordinator Trajano D’Mello, and Goa Minority Wing Coordinator Sultana Shaikh came out in full force to demand that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant release the names of the nine suspended government officials and assert that the cases under the grievance cell be expedited during a press conference at the party office.

Picking holes in the recent statement made by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on the functioning of the grievance cell, Goa TMC Joint Convenor Mariano Rodrigues said, ‘The grievance cell formed in 2022 is for namesake. The CM had assured the people that they could file complaints against any government official or department to the grievance cell and that the complaints received from citizens would be thoroughly investigated.’ He further asserted, ‘The resolution time of a public grievance must be time-bound, the CM must reply within 30 days. A Margao-based NGO wrote to the CM back in April 2022 and the CM has failed to reply to date.’

Highlighting the failure of the state machinery in the state, Rodrigues said, ‘The CM boasts of having more than 70,000 workforces in the government department yet the people of Goa are left to suffer and run from pillar to post to get work done.’ Commenting on the rampant misgovernance in the state, he added, ‘CM Sawant must work towards improving the functioning of state machinery to deliver good governance and effective service delivery to Goenkars.’

Citing the findings of an RTI on the rampant land grabbing cases, Goa TMC Media Coordinator Trajano D’Mello enquired, ‘Under the CM’s tenure, ‘it was revealed through an RTI that 6 cases of land grabbing were registered in 2020, 2 cases in 2021, and 33 cases in 2022 under the Mapusa jurisdiction. How can the CM now claim that no action was taken against the filed cases?’ Revealing the significance of SIT, he added, ‘The SIT has no meaning whatsoever. It was constituted to only fool the people of Goa.’

Bringing to the fore the recommendations of the Srinet Kotwale Commission, D’Mello clarified, ‘The Commission was formed to investigate the Serula Comunidade land grabbing cases. The government has failed to implement its recommendations till date.’ He further added, ‘In the case pertaining to the Serula land grabbing cases, the needle of suspicion points towards the political tout of Porvorim and the then revenue minister. I can present 5 survey numbers to the CM to investigate if any politician is involved.’
