Panaji: In a major breakthrough, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Goa Police carried out what is being termed as the biggest-ever LSD seizure in the state, arresting a Kerala native with 110 grams of high-micron LSD liquid—a stash valued at Rs 11.07 crore in the illicit market.
The accused, Mohammad Sameer (29), a native of Palakkad, Kerala, had been living in Goa for the past five years and was operating a guest house in Baga, while also renting an independent house in Bamon Waddo, Siolim, from where he allegedly ran his drug operation.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs and through a mix of technical surveillance and human intelligence, the ANC laid a trap and apprehended Sameer while he attempted to deliver 4.72 grams of LSD just outside his rented premises in Siolim. A follow-up raid on his residence led to the recovery of another 106 grams of high-potency LSD liquid, along with 101 grams of ganja.
According to officials, the total LSD seized is potent enough to produce 10 to 12 lakh LSD blots, which typically sell for Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 per blot in the illegal market. The accused is believed to have been supplying LSD in drops and also lacing blotting paper to cater to his clientele, especially within the psytrance party circuit, where the drug is in high demand due to its potent psychedelic effects.
The raid was led by PI Sajith Pillai of the ANC, assisted by HC Umesh Dessai, constables Godish Goltekar, Makarand Ghadi, Sairaj Naik, Venkatesh Mainkar, Akshay Naik, and police driver Vithal Fadte, under the supervision of DySP ANC Nerlon Albuquerque. The operation was executed under the leadership and guidance of SP ANC Sunita Sawant.
Further investigations are underway.
