As part of its sustained crackdown on drug trafficking, Goa Police carried out a major narcotics seizure in Canacona, reinforcing its zero-tolerance approach towards drug-related offences.
Canacona Police registered Crime No. 11/2026 under Section 22(c) of the NDPS Act, 1985, based on a state complaint. Acting on specific and reliable intelligence, the police conducted a raid near resort at Kindlebag, tarit, Canacona.
During the operation, the accused, Onyeacholem Friday (47), was apprehended while in illegal possession of 219.9 grams of cocaine, valued at approximately ₹1.09 crore. Police said the contraband was meant for sale to customers. The accused had arrived at the location on a scooter bearing registration number GA-03-AS-1690, which was also seized.
The narcotic substance and the scooter were confiscated under due search and seizure panchanama, strictly following all legal procedures.
Goa Police reiterated its commitment to keeping the state safe and drug-free, warning that anyone involved in drug trafficking will be dealt with firmly as per law. The police further stated that sustained action against drug networks will continue to safeguard youth, public safety, and the image of Goa.
Notably, this is the third case involving commercial quantity of narcotics registered within the last 15 days, and the largest seizure so far by the Canacona Police. The operation was carried out by the Canacona Police team under the supervision of the SDPO, Canacona, and the guidance of the SP, South Goa.
