PANAJI: Senior Congress Leader and Former Union Minister Milind Deora said that Goa would have become a logistic hub, had the BJP government taken some efforts, but nothing has been done by BJP.

He addressed a press conference in Panaji and said that BJP failed to create a logistic hub, create employment and protect the environment of Goa.

Panaji candidate Elvis Gomes, Sunil Kawthankar and others were present on the occasion.

“Goa enjoys the coastal advantage. It would have become an important logistic hub. But it has not been done, unfortunately. Goa ranks last in logistic ease across states.” He lamented.

“Mining was a major help to the coffers of governments. However Mining is banned. BJP is extending the deadlines of mining resumption and they have been promising it during every election. We promise the people of Goa to start in an environmentally sustainable way.” Milind Deora said.

He said that during the UPA government, the global financial crisis had hit and trade had affected. “We made it sure under the guidance of Rahul Gandhi that Mormugao Port Trust functions during that period. We also made sure that dock workers salaries were paid.” He said.

“Today what has been done for maritime infrastructure and in the field of logistics.’’ He questioned and said that Goa would have become an important coastal hub, had the BJP taken some steps.

“BJP has changed the politics with money power, muscle power and defection. It is BJPs model of politics.”Deora said.

He said that Congress didn’t do alliance with parties who have come on the eve of elections and who have already collapsed. “we have very good support from the people of Goa and we are confident to win this election.” He said.

“People of Goa will give a strong mandate to Congress as people want change.” He said.

“We will bring the lost glory and shine of Goa.” He said.
