Panaji: The Government of Goa has issued a notification granting exemption from motor vehicle tax to vehicles engaged in mining activities and registered on the Department of Mines (DoM) portal. The exemption applies for the period from October 1, 2020, to March 31, 2025, under the provisions of the Goa Motor Vehicles Tax Act, 1974.
The tax waiver is subject to the condition that the vehicles remain in the possession and ownership of their respective owners and are not used for mining operations during this period. If the vehicles are found to be used in mining activities, the applicable tax will be recovered on a pro-rata basis.
The exemption will not apply to vehicles that have already paid motor vehicle tax for the said period prior to the publication of this notification. The notification comes into effect from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
