Panaji, May 24: Goa Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane announced on Friday that his department will file first information reports (FIRs) against individuals violating the Preservation of Trees Act. Rane highlighted that people often misuse permissions obtained from deputy conservators of forest in North and South Goa, leading to violations of the Act.
“Once they get permission, people go completely against the rules,” Rane stated. He has instructed the principal chief conservator of Forest to take strict action against violators.
Additionally, as head of the Town and Country Planning (TCP) department, Rane warned against illegal landfilling activities, citing several ongoing investigations. He mentioned a specific complaint by Bicholim MLA Chandrakant Shetye regarding illegal land plotting in Mencurem village, assuring that action will be taken. (PTI)
