Panaji: Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly Ramesh Tawadkar will continue the hearing in the disqualification case against MLAs Digambar Kamat and Michael Lobo on March 23.

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Amit Patkar filed a disqualification petition against Lobo and Kamat after the two tried to engineer defections in Congress to join BJP last July.
On Friday, the arguments lasted almost two hours, with the Respondent’s lawyer stating that Amit Patkar, the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President, cannot file the disqualification petition.

After lengthy arguments, the Honourable Speaker has kept the matter for further arguments on Thursday, 23/3/23, at 5 pm.
Patkar said that their case is that any interested person can file a disqualification petition as held by the Supreme Court.

“It looks like this argument will give a new way for setting a new precedent in the Goa assembly let’s wait and watch,” he said.
