Sattari MLA Dr. Deviya Rane raised concerns over the lack of adequate public transportation in Sattari Taluka during a Zero Hour mention on the floor of the Goa Legislative Assembly, highlighting the difficulties faced by students, working professionals and residents in remote villages.
Rane pointed out that the shortage and infrequency of bus services is adversely affecting the daily lives of people in the taluka. She said students are forced to spend valuable time waiting for buses, while inadequate public transport has also contributed to a decline in student strength in schools in certain areas.
She further highlighted the difficulties faced by residents commuting to work and other destinations, stating that people often lose considerable time every day waiting for public transportation. In several interior villages, residents are unable to reach their desired destinations conveniently due to limited connectivity.
Rane also pointed out that KTCL buses do not cater to several interior parts of Sattari, while private bus operators too are reluctant to operate on remote routes as they consider them financially unviable. As a result, residents, including students and elderly people, are often compelled to walk long distances to access available bus services.
Urging the government to address the issue on priority, Dr. Deviya Rane appealed to Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho to deploy additional and regular bus services to the interior areas of Sattari. She stressed that improved public transportation is essential to ensure better access to education, employment and essential services for residents of the taluka.
