Demolition of Illegal Structures Linked to Land Grabbing Case Initiated in Mapusa

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Land Grabbing in Ribandar is currently investigating multiple land fraud cases, including Mapusa Police Station Crime No. 250/2020, Crime No. 142/2022, and Valpoi Police Station Crime No. 67/2021, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The mastermind behind these cases, Siddhaqui @ Suleman Mohammad Khan, a 46-year-old resident of Thivim, Bardez, had been absconding after committing the crimes.

Suleman Khan, a habitual offender, has a history of involvement in several criminal offenses, including property fraud and violent crimes. His criminal record includes cases registered at Anjuna and Mapusa police stations, involving charges of forgery, cheating, and even attempted murder.

In one of the ongoing cases, related to Mapusa PS Crime No. 250/2020, Khan had illegally grabbed property at Ekta Nagar, Mapusa, and erected unauthorized concrete structures and a metal shed, without obtaining the necessary approvals from the competent authorities. After the illegality was brought to the attention of the Mapusa Municipal Council, the Dy. Collector and SDM, North Goa, ordered the demolition of the illegal structures.

The demolition, ordered under No. DEMO-SQUAD/155/2024/3536 dated 07/10/2024, commenced at 10:00 AM in the presence of all concerned authorities, marking a significant step in addressing the property fraud and enforcing the law.
