Panaji: As part of its preparations for the upcoming Ponda bye-election, the Congress party held a crucial organisational meeting in Ponda, which saw the presence of senior party leaders and office bearers. PCC General Secretaries Rajesh Verenkar and Manisha Usgaonkar, GPCC President Savio D’Silva, senior Congress leader John Pereira, Ponda Block President William Aguiar, South Goa Mahila District President Mamta Maben and GPCC Minority Chairman Wasim Khan were among those who attended the meeting, along with several block-level office bearers and party functionaries.
A large number of Congress karyakartas, block members, Mahila Congress, Youth Congress representatives, Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and members of various frontal organisations participated, highlighting the party’s organisational strength and unity in the constituency.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on election strategy, booth-level coordination and strengthening the party at the grassroots level. Leaders emphasised the need to raise local issues, establish direct contact with voters and carry out a people-centric campaign that reflects the aspirations of the residents of Ponda.
Reiterating its commitment to democratic values, constitutional principles and collective responsibility, the Congress party expressed confidence of winning the Ponda bye-election. Party leaders stated that a victory in Ponda would mark the beginning of the decline of the BJP-led government and would set the tone for the 2027 Goa Assembly elections.
