Panaji: The Congress in Goa on Wednesday hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is celebrating its 42nd foundation, for failing to control rising fuel and gas prices and inflation.   ”On the occasion of BJP’s foundation, We request Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, office bearers and party workers to demand Prime Minister Narendra Modi to reduce prices of gas, diesel and Petrol. This will prove that BJP was founded to serve the people and not to loot them,” said Congress Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Media Department Chairman Amarnath Panjikar.   He pointed out that it was the same BJP which had promised to maintain the price of petrol in Goa under Rs 60 but after a few years it forgot its own promise.   ”The diesel and petrol prices remained unabated and were allowed to go up. Now it is impacting the common man. Prices of all essential commodities have gone up. Families are suffering, women are suffering. Even in the state budget presented recently, the Chief Minister, who also holds the finance portfolio, has not mentioned fuel prices. Ultimately people are suffering and they are celebrating foundation day. Any party which was founded to serve the people should do so,” he said.       The BJP leaders, including Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, party state President Sadanand Shet Tanavade, party’s state General Secretary Satish Dhondh hoisted party’s flag on the occasion.
