Panjim: Sunil Kawthankar, Vice President of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, has urged the Governor of Goa to intervene and revoke the illegal permissions granted to Spark Healthline Private Limited for a project in Reis Magos, Bardez taluka. In his letter, Kawthankar highlighted that the project is located partly within a Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) and on land with steep slopes exceeding 25%, raising serious environmental and legal concerns.
He pointed out that the approvals violate the Goa Investment Promotion and Facilitation of Single Window Clearance Act, 2021, which prohibits such developments in ecologically sensitive zones. The Congress leader stressed that this project could lead to destabilization, erosion, and pose long-term risks to Goa’s environmental and social fabric.
Kawthankar urged immediate action to cancel the project’s permissions, calling for governance that respects environmental laws and ensures the well-being of Goa’s future generations through sustainable development.
