Panaji: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee has strongly condemned the alleged illegal detention of Rama and demanded his immediate and unconditional release. Congress leaders accused the BJP government of misusing power to suppress dissent and intimidate critics.
Goa Congress President Amit Patkar questioned the Director General of Police (DGP), asking what crime Rama had committed to warrant being treated like a criminal with his face covered. Terming it an act of political vendetta, Patkar warned of a massive backlash if Rama is not released immediately.
“The Congress party, along with the people of Goa, will not allow the BJP to trample on fundamental rights and democratic values,” Patkar asserted, reiterating the party’s commitment to fighting against authoritarianism and injustice in the state.
