CM Dr. Pramod Sawant Virtually Joins MoU Signing for Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0, Focus on Smart Water Governance

Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant virtually participated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation under the Ministry of Jal Shakti and the Government of Goa for the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0. The event was held in the presence of Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Patil, Goa Minister for Drinking Water Subhash Phal Dessai, and senior officials.

Chief minister stated that Goa has already achieved 100% tap water connectivity under Phase 1 of the Jal Jeevan Mission, ensuring access to piped water for every rural household. He said the second phase will now focus on improving service delivery, sustainability, and long-term efficiency.

Highlighting the key features of the MoU, the Chief Minister said it emphasizes the use of advanced monitoring systems through digital platforms, dashboards, geo-tagging, and real-time data integration. He added that the adoption of new technologies will enhance transparency, efficiency, and overall water service management.

The initiative will also focus on capacity building and training, including structured skill development programmes for village-level water management teams. Additionally, sustainable operations and maintenance frameworks will be strengthened to ensure long-term functionality of infrastructure.

Chief Minister described Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0 as a transition from infrastructure creation to technology-driven governance and service excellence in rural water supply.

He also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for extending the Jal Jeevan Mission till 2028, stating that it will help states like Goa consolidate gains and ensure sustainable water security under the “Har Ghar Jal” initiative.
