Margao: In a scathing attack, the leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao on Wednesday held BJP government’s lethargic approach responsible for pending works of School repairs and stated that present dispensation has succeeded in damaging every brick of democracy and is now loosening the bricks of the education system.
Congress leader Yuri Alemao expressed concern over the reopening of schools where repair works remain incomplete, questioning the government’s priorities and preparedness.
“As the prime focus is on commissions, the incapacitated BJP government has ignored priorities in education. Last month, I raised the issue of pending school repairs, but the government failed to act swiftly, and today students and teachers are suffering. The BJP government has succeeded in damaging every brick of democracy and is now loosening the bricks of the education system. Shame on such a lethargic approach,” Alemao said.
Yuri Alemao had demanded to complete the repair works before the schools reopens. “Despite bringing this issue to the notice of the government and asking them to expedite the work, it has failed to provide a safe environment to students and teachers. There are schools where work are not completed, but still students are forced to sit in the respective classes. This poses risk to the lives of students and teachers,” Alemao pointed out,
“With such poor management and crumbled infrastructure, can we successfully implement the National Education Policy?,” he questioned.
He said that roofs of around 35 schools across the state were opened for repairs, out of which only 15 are completed.
Alemao demanded that classes be held nearby till the works are completed.
