Margao – It is now in the hands of Canconkars to show their kindness towards Future Canconkars and Save Canacona from Disaster. I humbly appeal to Canconkars not to give their Consent for the Film City Project at the Eco-Sensitive Bhagwati Plateau in Loliem, stated Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao.
BJP Government is eyeing every inch of Land in Goa with an ulterior motive of promoting Land & Real Estate Mafia in Goa. Canconkars should show the same zest like Farmers of Shel Melauli in Sattari and oppose the Film City Project. Let this huge land remain for your generations to come, appealed Yuri Alemao.
I demand that the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant should make public the Detailed Project Report (DPR) on the Film City as well as White Paper on IFFI and ESG which will throw light on how the Film City Project will benefit Goa. This will also clear what IFFI & ESG has achieved in last 20 years, claimed Yuri Alemao.
International Film Festival of India (IFFI) which was brought to Goa with much fanfare has turned out into “International Fraud Festival of India”. Government has spent almost 1500 crores on IFFI & ESG in last 20 years. Every year Government spends around 50 crores on the organisation of the Festival with zero benefits to the State and Local Film Fraternity, revealed Yuri Alemao.
Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) which was established as a Nodal Agency to promote the Local Film Makers is now “Extravagant Society of Goa”. ESG has failed to effectively implement Goa Film Finance Scheme for almost 10 years now. How many Jobs and Employment Opportunities are created by ESG in last 20 years? Canconkars should ask this question to all those who claim that Film City will generate Jobs, said Yuri Alemao.
Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant needs to explain on the status of much publicised Convention Centre at Dona Paula which was supposed to get inaugurated during 50th Edition of IFFI in 2019. Why State Film Festival is not organised for last many years? Why Goans Films are not screened in Official Section of IFFI? Leader of Opposition raised these questions.
The advanced Technology now facilitates Film Makers to create anything and everything on the Screen of Computers. Any destination or location can be created by using software which is widely available in the market. Film Makers save on cost of production by adapting innovative ideas. The concept of Film City with artificially created Location Sets has become out-dated, stated Yuri Alemao.
