Amit Patkar Slams BJP for Turning Goa’s Governance into a Political PR Circus

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Amit Patkar has strongly criticised the ruling BJP, accusing it of misusing public funds and government platforms for party promotion.

In a sharp statement, Patkar condemned the recent incident where BJP Goa President Damu Naik was seen seated on the official dais during the government-funded Mhaje Ghar Yojana event, attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant. He said the move reflects the “complete erosion of democratic norms and governance ethics in Goa.”

“Who authorised the BJP State President to occupy an official seat at a government event funded by taxpayers? This is not governance; it is shameless political advertising at the cost of Goans,” Patkar questioned.

The Congress leader accused the BJP of converting every official function into a party campaign platform, using government officers, resources, and taxpayer money to advance its political interests. “Such conduct is an insult to Goans who expect accountability, not propaganda,” he stated.

Patkar further expressed concern that while citizens continue to face pressing issues such as unemployment, inflation, and poor infrastructure, the government seems more focused on orchestrating photo opportunities and event management.

He demanded that the Chief Minister clarify under what authority BJP President Damu Naik was permitted to share the official dais at a state event and confirm whether the event expenses were paid from the public exchequer.

“Goa will not remain silent while the BJP converts every government initiative into a party-owned PR exercise. Governance belongs to the people — not to the BJP’s propaganda machinery,” Patkar asserted.
