26 January 2025: Aldona MLA Adv. Carlos Alvares Ferreira inaugurated the commencement of repair work on the existing gutter and the fitting of an RCC slab from Augustine House to Mark Rego House in Ward No. 6 of Nachinola Village Panchayat under the MLA-LAD Scheme. The project, amounting to ₹24,92,598, is set to be completed within 90 days. The inauguration was attended by Sarpanch Freddy Fernandes and other officials.
During the event, Ferreira expressed strong concerns about the poor state of roads in the constituency, emphasizing that residents are frustrated with delays in road restoration. He assured the public that he would stand by them to seek justice through legal action.
He announced that a legal notice would be issued on Monday, followed by a petition in the High Court, demanding timely road repairs. Ferreira highlighted that several people have sustained injuries due to unsafe and non-motorable roads. He added that the legal notice is distinct from potential criminal action and damage claims being pursued by those injured.
Ferreira urged government departments to take immediate action, ensuring citizens receive relief within a legal timeframe as their right, not as a favor.
