Panaji: BJP Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always used the Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Caste for Political Gains. Time has come for the BJP Government to prove its love for the Backward Communities. Inaugurate the New Parliament Building at the hands of President of India Droupadi Murmu and prove your love for Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Caste, demanded Congress General Secretary Joseph Vaz. He was speaking to the Media after submitting a Memorandum to the Governor of Goa P.S. Sreedharan Pillai.
Congress Delegation comprising of Joseph Vaz, Adv. Jitendra Gaonkar, Ramkrishna Jalami, Milagres Fernandes, Quiteria Vas, Constantino Faleiro, Fatima Cardoso and Pascoal Dias met the Governor at Raj Bhavan in Dona Paula today demanding Inauguration of the New Parliament Building should be held at the hands of President of India Droupadi Murmu.
Hon’ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu inaugurating the New Parliament Building will be a Tribute to the entire Tribal Community of India. This will also send a positive message of Respect to Woman by Government of India, stated Joseph Vaz.
Government of India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi had side-lined the Former President of India Shri. Ram Nath Kovind during the Foundation Stone Ceremony of the New Parliament Building by not extending Invitation to the then President of India. By not inviting Shri. Ram Nath Kovind, the BJP Government insulted the Scheduled Caste Community of India, said Adv. Jitendra Gaonkar.
It is important to maintain the Constitutional Propriety and the Hon’ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu should be requested by the Government to Inaugurate the New Parliament Building. The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India has every right to be there at the Inaugural Ceremony, but the President of India doing the honours will be Constitutionally correct.
We request you to take up our Sentiments with the Office of the Prime Minister as well as the Office of the President of India and ensure that the Inauguration of the New Parliament Building is done at the hands of Hon’ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu, the Memorandum stated.
