Margao – Mysterious Construction of a ‘Well’ adjacent to Cuncolim Industrial Estate shows ‘All is not Well’ in Cuncolim Industrial Estate. Apart from Air & Water Pollution, there are illegal encroachments in private properties as well as government land by Industrial Units.
I once again urge Chief Minister to constitute a High Level Committee to conduct Investigation of all Units in Cuncolim Industrial Estate & take immediate steps to put an end to deadly Pollution, Revenue Loss to State with overproduction & Evasion of GST & Illegal Encroachments stated Cuncolim MLA & Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao.
Reacting to the Show Cause notice served by Cuncolim Municipal Council on unknown persons pertaining to illegal construction of a well, Yuri Alemao said that all illegalities needs to be stopped & strict action should be taken against all violators.
I had raised all the issues in the last Assembly Session and Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant had promised me to send team and investigate on Pollution, Overproduction, Evasion of Taxes by some Units in Cuncolim Industrial Estate. I have now tabled Legislative Assembly Questions to check whether any action was taken after the session, Yuri Alemao said.
Cuncolim Industrial Estate is a “Ticking Bomb” which may explode any movement. Government must learn from the massive fire at Pillerne Industrial Estate and take pro-active steps to control illegalties which are main cause of accidents, Yuri Alemao said.
I will never ever support any illegalities. I am of the firm opinion that all polluting units in Cuncolim Industrial Estate should be shut down immediately and eco-friendly Industries should be brought in, stated Yuri Alemao.
