goaplusnewsPanaji – Huge garbage collected from various beaches in Goa by the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, Union Minister Sripad Naik,Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte along with the new BJP MLA’s Digambar Kamat & Aleixo Sequeira vindicate the Congress Party stand that there is scam in beach cleaning contract charged Congress President Amit Patkar.
I urge the new BJP MLA’s Digambar Kamat and Aleixo Sequeira to demand with the Chief Minister to scrap the Beach Cleaning Contract & save almost 60 crores of the State, Amit Patkar said.
It is shocking to see the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, Union Minister Sripad Naik, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, BJP President Sadanand Tanawade along with others collecting huge garbage from various beaches to mark “Clean Coast, Safe Sea” drive across Goa. This proves that the beach cleaning contractor appointed by the government is not doing anything, stated Amit Patkar.
Goa Lokayukta had ordered an inquiry into the beach cleaning scam under the two contractors Ram Cleaners & Developers and Bhumika Cleantec Services. Similar irregularities were observed in the subsequent contract given to Drishti Lifesaving. Today, the Chief Minister and the Tourism Minister have experienced themselves that the present contractor Karnataka Industrial & Commercial is not doing any work and hence the garbage is piled up on various beaches in Goa, pointed Amit Patkar.
I appeal to the Chief Minister to organise such drives every week and engage local panchayats in beach cleaning work. They will do the work with cost effectiveness and our beaches will also remain clean. I want to remind the Chief Minister that our Goan Contractors were doing the work for hardly Rs.3 crores per annum before BJP Government roped in two contractors from Mumbai to fulfill its “Mission 30 percent Commission”, stated Amit Patkar
