He was speaking during interaction held at Carmona village during his visit to Salcete taluka as a part of Goa Sampurna Yatra.Governor, Shri. Pillai stated that people are supreme before the Democratic system of the country, hence Government machinery is committed to serve the people. He appreciated serene beauty of villages in Salcete taluka. Governor disbursed financial assistance to dialysis patients utilising the Governor Discretionary funds. MLA, Benaulim Shri. Venzy Viegas apprised Governor about the historical and cultural significance of villages in Benaulim constituency. He lauded the Governor for visiting the villages and interacting with people. Sarpanch of Carmona Shri. Prisco Rodrigues; Sarpanch, Cavelosim Shri. Dixon Vaz; Sarpanch of Benaulim Shri. Xavier Peirera; Sarpanch of Varca, Smt Selsina Fernandes; Sarpanch of Orlim, Shri. Simon Pereira, Sarpanch, Colva, Smt. Suzie Fernandes; Sarpanch, Seraulim, Smt. Seema Shanke presented memorandum consisting various demands and grievances pertaining to fishermen welfare, basic amenities and infrastructure to Governor and sought his intervention to resolves the issues. Governor in his address assured that Raj Bhavan will study the matter for appropriate action. Governor also visited Holy Cross of Hope Church, Chinchini and Sarzora village Panchayat. He interacted with people of Sarzora, Velim, Assolna, Ambelim, and other villages.Governor in his address said that Goa is marching ahead to become self-reliant State. Raj Bhavan will extend support to achieve the goal. He informed that as a part of Sampurna Goa yatra 71 different types of institutions such as orphanages, social service centres across the State have been covered and 421 dialysis patients were provided with financial assistance. Governor also said that till now he has covered 60 percent of villages as a part of Goa Sampurna Yatra. Governor also disbursed financial assistance to dialysis patients. Governor Shri. Pillai was welcomed by MLA, Velim Shri. Cruz Silva. Earlier, Governor visited Holy Church of Merces, Varca and sought blessings. At Hawai beach, Governor interacted with the fishermen community of Colva, Benaulim villages. Local fisherman informing about the urgent need of land for grounding their fishing boats for maintenance requested Governor to help in resolving the issue. During the day long tour of salcete taluka Governor was accompanied by Collector, South Goa Smt. Jyoti Kumari, IAS; Secretary to Governor Shri. Mihir Vardhan, IAS(Retd); Deputy Collector Shri. Uday Prabhu Dessai and other officers.
