Panaji: Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, during Zero Hour, raised issue of acute shortage of beds at the South Goa District Hospital in the Medicine Ward both Male and Female. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant directed officials to look into the matter.

“Patients are treated on stretchers and wheel-chairs. It is a pathetic scene and not befitting a District Hospital. The government may take immediate steps to provide the minimum requirement at SGDH,”Alemao said.

Alemao said that there are two floors vacant but we are told they are kept for a proposed Nursing College. “Take them at least temporarily to provide immediate relief to patients and people in distress, needing health care immediately. This is something which cannot be postponed for tomorrow,” Alemao said, urging to resolve the issue.

Later, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant assured the House to resolve the issue and directed officials to act on it.
