02 January 2025: Congress vice president Sunil Kawthankar has expressed shock and disapproval over the Goa Legislative Assembly being convened for just two days. He highlighted the urgency of addressing critical issues such as land grab, job scams, land conversion, hill cutting, and the failure of law and order, arguing that a 48-hour session is insufficient to discuss, debate, and resolve these pressing matters.
Kawthankar questioned the government’s decision, stating, “Why fear the opposition if there is nothing to hide?” He condemned the move by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and the BJP-led government, calling it a “murder of democracy” at the start of the new year. He labeled the act as “disgraceful” and “fascist,” accusing the government of undermining the foundational principles of the nation.
He urged for longer assembly sessions to ensure effective governance and proper representation for the citizens of Goa, using the hashtags #MoreDaysForDemocracy and #EffectiveGovernance to amplify his message.
