Panaji: The rattled BJP Government headed by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has no guts to face the Opposition. The fresh Bulletin issued by Goa Legislative Secretary curtailing the Five day Assembly Session to four day session makes it clear that the BJP Government has done “Ram Naam Satya Hai” of One day Business of the Legislative Assembly, charged Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao.
Addressing a press conference at Porvorim today after the Congress Legislature Party Meeting along with Congress MLAs Adv. Carlos Alvares Ferreira and Altone D’Costa, Leader of Opposition slammed the Government for repeatedly trying to suppress the voice of the Opposition.
It was alright to announce Ram Navami Holiday on 30th March 2023 but the Government should have extended the Session and rescheduled the Business. The act of the Government to curtail the session is cowardly, Yuri Alemao said.
With the change in the schedule, restrictions have come on tabling questions pertaining to various departments. On the first day there are 19 Departments, on the second day there are 14, third day 16 and on fourth day there are 13 Departments. There is limitation of tabling only 3 Starred Questions and 15 Unstarred Questions per day, informed Yuri Alemao.
We will take up issues concerning the people like Mhadei Diversion, Unemployment, Rise in Petrol, Diesel & Gas Prices, Rise in Fatal Road Accidents due to poor Road Infrastructure, Rise in Crimes, Proposed Power Tariff Hike, Failure to Notify Places of Historic Importance, Blatant Violations of TCP Rules, Failure to demolish Illegal Bungalow at Old Goa, Corruption in Smart City Project etc. stated Yuri Alemao.
Aldona MLA Adv. Carlos Alvares Ferreira stated that there is rampant corruption in the Government. There are repeated instances of violations of rules and regulations observed everywhere. This cannot happen without the blessings of the Godfather. He alleged that the illegalities are patronized by bosses in the BJP.

We are lucky that Ram Navami is on Thursday and not on Friday. We would have lost another opportunity of Private Members Business, claimed Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa. He said that all the Opposition MLAs will raise issues concerning people.
Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao informed that he will personally contact the other Opposition MLAs and ensure that all of them will unitedly come up with a strategy to corner the Government. He said that people will see similar performance of the Opposition MLAs like previous Assembly Session.
