goaplusnewsNew Delhi: In a dramatic turn of events that unfolded while the nation slept, India launched a massive retaliatory military operation—codenamed Operation Sindoor—targeting nine terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The strikes came in response to the gruesome terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 tourists. According to sources cited by India Today TV, over 90 terrorists are believed to have been eliminated in the precision strikes.
Here’s a 10-point recap of the operation:
1. “Justice is served. Jai Hind!”
The first official indication of India’s military action came via a cryptic five-word post from the Indian Army on X (formerly Twitter), accompanied by a video of military drills captioned: “Ready to strike, trained to win.”
2. Government’s Measured Response
Soon after, the Indian government issued a carefully worded statement, clarifying that the strikes were “focused, measured, and non-escalatory.” It stressed that no Pakistani military installations were targeted.
3. Diplomatic Messaging from Washington
In a simultaneous move to manage international perception, the Indian Embassy in Washington released a detailed note citing “credible leads” pointing to Pakistan-based terrorists’ involvement in the Pahalgam massacre.
4. Targets Spread Across Pakistan and PoK
The strikes hit nine strategic locations, including Bahawalpur (Jaish-e-Mohammed stronghold), Muridke (Lashkar-e-Taiba HQ), as well as Gulpur, Bhimber, Chak Amru, Bagh, Kotli, Sialkot, and Muzaffarabad.
5. Rafale Fighters Lead Air Assault
The Indian Air Force deployed Rafale jets armed with SCALP cruise missiles and Hammer bombs—capable of deep precision strikes—during the overnight operation.
6. PM Modi Monitored Operation
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has chaired multiple high-level security meetings since the Pahalgam attack, monitored Operation Sindoor through the night. The PM had earlier vowed to “identify, track, and punish” every perpetrator.
7. Pakistani Retaliation Along LoC
In response, Pakistan opened artillery fire across the Line of Control in the Poonch-Rajouri sector, resulting in the deaths of three Indian civilians. This marked the 13th consecutive day of ceasefire violations by Pakistan.
8. Pakistan Terms Strikes “Act of War”
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the strikes, labeling them an “act of war” and warned of retaliation. Pakistan also claimed civilian casualties—over 25 dead and 50 injured—though these claims remain unverified.
9. Heightened Security Measures in India
Flight operations at airports in Dharamshala, Leh, Jammu, Srinagar, and Amritsar have been suspended. Civilian flights from Srinagar are grounded for the day, and educational institutions in parts of Kashmir have been shut.
10. Global Diplomacy in Motion
India promptly briefed key global players including the US, UK, Russia, and Saudi Arabia. US President Donald Trump, in his first remarks, called the situation “a shame,” and added that he had anticipated such an escalation.
