Margao: After inaugurating drainage stretch in Curtorim constituency, the Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao on Sunday urged villagers to be vigilant as this broker BJP government is eyeing to sell land of Goa to Private Universities and their crony capitalist friends.
He appreciated the initiatives of Zilla Panchayat member Mrs Michelle Moreno Rebelo for taking up construction of the drainages from Domingos Raposo house to Ponna Khuris near the main road at Macasana in Curtorim constituency.
“Our pristine villages should not be sold to takers, who make destruction of our natural beauty by cutting trees and disturbing the environment. We need to be more vigilant as this government is in process to provide communidade land to some private universities in Thivim and other places of Goa,” Alemao said.
He said that BJP is aware that in future they won’t be able to form a government by horse trading of MLAs and hence they are looting as much as they can.
“People of Goa have decided to send the defectors, who have cheated gods and betrayed public sentiments, and those MLAs supporting this heartless government to show doors in the next assembly election. BJP is baffled and hence is trying to loot as much as it can,” Alemao said.
Alemao said that Congress will cross 27 seats in the 2027 assembly election. “BJP is trying to derail peace and communal harmony of Goa for political gains. But our peace loving people have not fallen prey to their hidden agendas,” Alemao said.
Speaking about works undertaken by Michelle Moreno Rebelo, he said that drainages are important for the smooth flow of water and avoid water clogging during the rainy season.
“When we serve people, it is our bound duty to provide them with facilities as such. But while doing this we need to take people into confidence and with their consent we should proceed ahead. Otherwise there will be no difference between us and BJP,” Alemao said, attacking anti-people policies of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
Sarpanch Mr Agnelo D’ Costa, Panch member Mr Tony Raposo and former ZP Mr Moreno Rebelo were also present.
