Panaji: The Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao on Tuesday assured Premanand Naik, former Sarpanch of Sancoale, to take up the issue of Bhutani Project to concerned authorities to act on illegalities-which paved the way for granting permissions to them and to demand comprehensive investigation into the matter.

Naik, who has entered day 9 of his hunger strike against the Bhutani project, has written to Yuri Alemao, along with Member of Parliament Capt. Viriato Fernandes and GPCC President Amit Patkar seeking their intervention. Responding to it, Alemao said that the Congress party has opposed the project to save Sancoale from destruction and will take all necessary steps to protect the village.

“BJP government should feel ashamed to see the senior citizen staging a hunger strike to protect his village. Despite knowing all the facts, this heartless government is trying to divert the issue and ignoring the demand of locals. Congress party has supported the movement against this project and we will leave no stone unturned to reach to the depth of these illegalities. We will further expose this corrupt and land dealer government, which is all out to sell our land to crony capitalists,” Alemao said.

Congress leader Alemao assured Mr. Naik that he will take up the issue with concerned authorities and will demand a comprehensive investigation.

Yuri Alemao said that they are all united in the fight against such draconian projects, which play a major role in the destruction of Goa.

“The way this government is taking this issue lightly, it proves that ministers in the government are hand-in-glove with Bhutani and their actions are a testament to this.
