Reacting to the annoucement made by Qatar Airways to shift its operations to Mopa International Airport from June 2024, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao has slammed BJP Government for remaining silent spectator.
I had warned the Government in 2022 that Dabolim Airoprt will turn into a Ghost Airport. I had urged the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant to take pro-active steps to ensure Dabolim Airport continues. Unforunately, BJP Government is deliberately ignoring the shifting of operations by various Airlines, charged Yuri Alemao.
We have seen in last two years sharp decline in passenger movement and airlines activities at Dabolim. Government has failed to come out with a comprehensive action plan to ensure that Dabolim International Airport continues, stated Yuri Alemao.
There is a possibility that BJP Government will provide lip service to the people of South Goa till upcoming Loksabha Elections and eventually roll out a plan to close the Dabolim Airport and hand it over to Coal Transporters. They can even shift Naval Base to please Crony Club of BJP, claimed Yuri Alemao.
I am confident that INDIA Block will form the Government at the Centre in 2024 and Congress will ensure that the Dabolim Airport will continue. We need Goans to stand by Congress during the Loksabha Elections and defeat the gameplan of BJP, said Yuri Alemao.
