GOANS ARE NOT PAKISTANIS, REINSTATE FREE WATER SCHEME – PRABHAV NAIK

Margao – It is ironic that while the Central Government makes loud declarations about stopping water to Pakistan to teach them a “lesson,” the Goa government is punishing its own people by denying them access to something as basic as water. Goans are not Pakistanis. We are law-abiding citizens of this country who deserve respect, not retribution. If government can afford mega events, surely they can afford to uphold basic welfare schemes for their own citizens, stated Madganvcho Awaaz & Youth Leader Prabhav Naik.

The recent decision by the Goa government to discontinue the 16,000 litres of free water per household per month is deeply disappointing and a direct betrayal of the trust placed in them by the people of Goa. This scheme was giving relief for thousands of Goan families struggling with rising costs of living. To take it away without public consultation or a transparent explanation is both undemocratic and anti-people, charged Prabhav Naik.

The abrupt cancellation of the free water scheme raises serious questions about this government’s credibility and priorities. Where is the accountability? Where is the transparency? And most importantly, where is the empathy for the common Goan who is now being forced to pay for what was once free?, questioned Prabhav Naik.

We at Madganvcho Awaaz demand immediate reinstatement of the free water scheme and a clear policy explanation from the government. We also urge citizens across Goa to raise their voice against this unjust move. Public resources like water are not luxuries—they are essentials. Denying access to them is a denial of basic rights, pointed Prabhav Naik.

This is not just a matter of litres and rupees. This is about principles, promises, and people. If the government continues down this path, it must be prepared to face the anger of Goans who will not be taken for granted, warned Prabhav Naik.
