Panaji, 16th May, 2023: The Goa Star Women Award 2023 was successfully held on May 14th 2023, at the Auditorium, NIO – Donapaula. The event was a celebration of women empowerment and achievements, recognizing the remarkable contributions of women in various fields.
The award ceremony was organized by Rebuild India Trust & Goa Panchayat Mahila Shakti Abhiyan, in association with the Directorate of Panchayat, Government of Goa. The event was attended by Hon. Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant, Minister of Panchayat, Shri. Mauvin Godinho, and eminent personalities from different walks of life, including politicians, business leaders, social activists, and artists.
The event began with a welcome song performed by the Mahila Group from Sattari Block, showcasing their musical talents and highlighting the importance of community involvement. The ceremony was introduced by Shri. Abhay Bhamaikar, Chairman of Rebuild India Trust, who spoke on The 100th Outreach Program which was conducted across the state of Goa, as well as the importance of the award ceremony in empowering women in Goa. The dignitaries were then escorted onto the dais, where they were welcomed by Smt. Siddhi Halarnkar, Director of Panchayat, Govt of Goa, who delivered the opening speech and set the tone for the evening’s festivities.
After which the bouquets were offered to honor the Dignitaries present. The day began with a lighting of the lamp ceremony, followed by the recognition of the dedicated managing and organizing committee members. The event kick-started with an opening remark by the esteemed Smt. Nelly Rodrigues, an administrator of Mahila Shakti Abhiyan, followed by an inspiring address by Chief Guest and Chief Patron of GSWA, Dr. Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa.

It is heartening to see so many women being recognized for their achievements in different fields. Your achievements have not only benefited you but have also contributed significantly to society. You have broken barriers, challenged norms, and made a positive impact on the lives of those around you. I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the winners of the Goa Star Women Award 2023. Your achievements are an inspiration to us all, and I hope that your success motivates more women to strive for excellence” he stated.
The Award Ceremony began with the recognition of exceptional individuals and organizations who have contributed to the development of the community in various categories such as NGOs, HIV AIDS, Young Budding, Doctors, Government Servants, Professors, Entrepreneurship, and Sports. The event also recognized the founder member of Goa Panchayat Mahila Shakti Abhiyan, Smt. Herminia Da Sosta. The evening was further enhanced by a mesmerizing Diwali dance performance, followed by another round of Awards, which included Agriculture, Engineer, Artist, Lawyer, Mass Media, Social Media, and Young Budding categories. The event concluded with a cultural Kunbi dance performance by a Mahila group from Ponda Block, and awards in Paramedical, Defence, Teacher, Women Sex Worker, and Divyang categories.
The event also featured a stunning fashion show by renowned international dress designer Verma Demello as well as the Lifetime Achievement Award. The ceremony ended on a high note with a group photo of all the awardees with the guests. The Award Ceremony was a tribute to the hard work, dedication, and resilience of women, and it is an honor for Goa to celebrate their achievements.
