Panaji: In a move to streamline the recruitment process across departments, the Department of Personnel, Government of Goa, has issued new guidelines regarding the verification of computer knowledge for candidates applying to government posts. As per the office memorandum dated April 16, 2025, a standardized criterion will be enforced from November 1, 2025.

The memorandum highlights that Recruitment Rules for various posts require candidates to possess computer knowledge or certification. However, departments have been following varied methods to assess this requirement. To bring uniformity, the government has now made it mandatory for candidates to hold at least a six-month Diploma Course Certificate in Computers. This must be obtained from an Information Technology Knowledge Centre or Computer Institute recognized by the Info Tech Corporation of Goa Ltd., the Government of India, or the Human Resource Development Foundation affiliated with the Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

However, candidates holding a degree or diploma in Computers, Computer Science, Computer Applications, IT, Electronics, Electronics & Telecommunication, Electrical and Electronics, or those with a recognized ITI trade certificate in Computer Operator and Programming Assistant, will be exempted from this requirement.

These new rules aim to ensure consistency in recruitment procedures while maintaining essential computer literacy standards across government departments
