The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Goa Police has achieved major breakthroughs in its intensified fight against drug trafficking, conducting multiple operations that led to significant arrests and the seizure of narcotics worth ₹29.2 lakh. These efforts include dismantling an interstate ganja smuggling network and apprehending international suspects.

In a high-profile raid during the Sunburn Music Festival, five individuals from Texas (USA), Hyderabad, Chennai, Madhya Pradesh, and Cuncolim were detained after testing positive for banned substances through saliva tests. Four tested positive for ganja, while one tested positive for cocaine.

In another operation, the ANC arrested Sachin Haldankar, a local youth, near ITI Tuem while delivering Ecstasy and Charas worth ₹27.7 lakh. This successful sting was led by PSI Sunil Falkar and his team.

Simultaneously, a Nigerian national, Joseph Uzor (44), was apprehended in Parra, Bardez, with cocaine worth ₹1.5 lakh. Investigations are underway to verify Uzor’s background and legal status. PSI Dindayal Redkar spearheaded this operation.

A breakthrough in an interstate ganja supply network saw the arrest of Guddu Mochi Ram, the alleged kingpin from Jharkhand’s Palamu district. The operation followed months of investigation into a prior seizure of 13 kg of ganja in Assnora. The arrest, made in collaboration with the Palamu Police, highlighted the ANC’s ability to coordinate across state lines.

In another significant action, the ANC and Crime Branch collaborated with Delhi Police to apprehend a Portuguese national from Colva. The individual is linked to a case involving the seizure of 3.5 kg of Charas worth ₹2.5 crore in Delhi.

These operations, conducted under PI Sajith Pillai and supervised by DySP Nerlon Albuquerque and SP Tikam Singh Verma, IPS, align with the vision of a drug-free “Nashamukt Bharat” promoted by the Hon’ble Prime Minister and Chief Minister.

As New Year celebrations approach, the ANC has issued an advisory urging the public to avoid consuming narcotics and report suspicious activities to the Goa Police ERSS helpline 112 or MANAS helpline 1933.
