goaplusnewsMargao – Goa Cultural Policy 2007 & Goa Sports Policy 2009 were initiated by the Congress Government to encourage local talent in the field of Art & Culture and Sports. These Policies have provision of Grace Marks for Culturally Talented Students and Sportspersons. There is also a provision to give Job Reservations to Artists and Sportspersons. Sadly, BJP Government since 2012 failed to effectively implement both the Policies, charged Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao.
Reacting to the statement made by the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant stating that Government Jobs will have 4% quota for Sportspersons, Yuri Alemao urged that BJP Government must effectively implement both the Policies and give its benefits to Artists and Sportspersons. He also reminded the Chief Minister of the Government’s earlier Announcement of giving Government Jobs to Medal Winners of 37th National Games and the recent Assurance of Government Job given to Miss India Deaf International Runner up Vinita Shirodkar.
I am consistently following up with the Government on implementation of the provision in the Goa Cultural Policy to give Grace Marks to Culturally Talented Students. Unfortunately Government has failed to implement the same in last ten years. I hope the Government will at least effectively implement both the Policies from the coming year, stated Yuri Alemao.
There is nothing new in the recent Announcements of the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant. It was the Visionary Congress Government which formulated and notified the Goa Cultural Policy & Goa Sports Policy in 2007 & 2009 respectively. These Policies were drafted taking views from all the Stakeholders and Experts. It is the successive BJP Governments which have failed to give Grace Marks to Students and Job Reservations to the Artists & Sportspersons, pointed Yuri Alemao.
It is also to be seen whether these recent announcements see the light of the day or remain only in the air. I have no hopes from the Government which cannot implement its own Budget Announcements. Government is trying to lure the Voters keeping an eye on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, claimed Yuri Alemao.
I want to remind the Goans of the big announcements made by the Chief Minister in November 2022 that all the Government Recruitments will be done through Staff Selection Commission from January 2023. We are now in December 2023 and the Chief Minister has made yet another announcement of Recruitments through Staff Selection Commission from 2024. These announcements are like rubbing salt on the wounds of Unemployed Youth, stated Yuri Alemao.
