Panaji, June 20, 2025: Acting promptly on a case of unauthorized solicitation, the Tourist Police Unit of Goa apprehended an individual at Baga beach for offering services to tourists without the requisite permission.
The incident occurred during routine patrolling when a Warden from the Department of Tourism, along with staff from the Tourist Police Unit, identified an individual offering services in contravention of the Goa Registration of Tourist Trade Act, 1982. Upon questioning, the person identified himself as Meghnath Das, 25, residing at Laxman Bar and Restaurant, Baga Bardez and it was confirmed that the person did not possess the requisite permission from the competent authority.
The individual has been produced before the Department of Tourism for further necessary action under Section 26 of the Act. The Department remains committed to safeguarding the interests of tourists and maintaining the standards of responsible and regulated tourism in the state.
