In a major crackdown, the Colvale Police successfully busted a gang involved in smuggling drugs into the Central Jail, Colvale. Acting on a report submitted by the jail authorities, police launched an investigation after a sentry spotted suspicious packets near Watch Tower 3 on June 14. The packets were found to contain 1.397 kg of suspected ganja worth ₹1.4 lakh.
An FIR was registered under the NDPS Act, and a thorough technical investigation led to the arrest of three individuals — Gautam Talwar, Samuel Pujari, and Jaffer Mulla — all residents of Mapusa, along with a minor, who was presented before the Juvenile Justice Board. The gang had allegedly thrown the packets over the jail wall in the early hours of June 14 to supply drugs to an inmate.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of SP North Rahul Gupta, SDPO Mapusa Wilson D’Souza, and PI Colvale Sanjit Kandolkar. Further investigation is underway.
